Nadja Albrecht took part in our gas voucher draw last spring and actually won. When handing over her prize, she told us something about herself. We found Nadja and her plan to travel on the “Grand Tour of Switzerland” with her camper so inspiring that we asked her a bit more.
Please tell us something about yourself and how you came to go on a tour through Switzerland with your camper?
I am 30 years old, a teacher and have owned a VW T5 California since December 2019. I've fulfilled a small dream with that.
Due to corona, my travel plans were somewhat thwarted and I decided to only stay in Switzerland for now. For my 30th birthday last January, I received a book from friends about “Grand Tour of Switzerland” I got and used the spring break to start it.
What did/does your route through Switzerland look like?
My goal is to drive exactly along the “Grand Tour of Switzerland” route. These can also be found at https://grandtour.myswitzerland.com/de/
In spring, the route took me from Kloten to Schaffhausen, Stein am Rhein, Jakobsbad, Wildhaus, Werdenberg, Chur, Savognin, Andeer and back again.
What should not be missing on a road trip?
Good music and coffee.
Were you able to take away insights from the first part of your Tour de Suisse that you will implement for the summer?
When you drive on country roads, everything slows down in a way. Vacations are meant to be enjoyed, I can take my time. You also discover a lot more than when you're on the motorway. It also saves fuel:)
How does autoSense help you plan or evaluate your road trip?
I find it very exciting after a Route section on the timeline to see exactly where I drove for a long time. This is also interesting when I tell others about the trip. I also like to make photo albums from my travels. Perhaps a screenshot of the timeline will find a place in it.
Consumption while driving is also always very interesting to track.
I'm also excited to see what the new feature will give me.”DriveScore” will deliver on the next trip.
Are there any other autoSense features and services that are used on your tour?
I find that Fill up with the app very convenient. It is also super easy to find and navigate to gas stations. If I am traveling on foot, it is very convenient to be able to retrieve the location of the vehicle. The Tampering alert It also gives you a sense of security.
What does it mean for you to travel with a camper?
For me, it is complete deceleration, switching off from everyday life. Whether it's a week or just an afternoon, whether far away or in my parents' garden: I can completely switch off and see it as a great privilege that I really enjoy.
What are your plans for the future? Are you planning any other projects with the camper?
I'm looking forward to going abroad again soon. It would be a dream to go to Scotland. Maybe I'll be able to do that next year. Otherwise, I'm very flexible wherever I go.
Thank you for this lovely interview, dear Nadja. The whole autoSense team wishes you good and safe trips with your camper and a wonderful time.
