What the electricity crisis also means

Just a few months ago, the direction seemed clear. In order to sustainably counteract climate change, we should all switch from cars with combustion engines to e-mobility as quickly as possible. It is important to minimize CO2 emissions. To this end, vehicles with excessive carbon dioxide emissions are sanctioned with punitive taxes and the procurement of electric cars is subsidized for tax purposes. The range of electric cars quickly expanded, battery capacities and ranges increased, and charging stations sprouted up like mushrooms. Every 7th new car sold in Switzerland is already a pure BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle). So far so good.

Since the Ukraine crisis, however, we are now facing an electricity crisis next winter and the Federal Council is already calling for consistent energy savings, which is currently unsettling Swiss car buyers. So, contrary to energy-saving ideas, invest in the future BEV technology or continue to refuel with fossil fuels, produce CO2, but keep a clear conscience when it comes to electricity consumption?
