Swisscom, as a pioneer in digitalization, sustainability and electric mobility, was faced with the challenge of optimising the charging of electric vehicles for both employees and external users. The solution: autoSense AG with its innovative platform fleetCharge. This provides Swisscom with seamless and efficient management of charging processes at company locations, in public spaces and in the private environment of employees.

The challenge: Uniform charging network for different user groups

Swisscom needed a solution that could easily charge company vehicles, private electric cars from employees and use by external drivers at the company's locations. In addition, there was a need to make the billing of charging processes simple and transparent both internally and externally. This included not only the use of public charging stations, but also charging at home.

The solution: autoSense fleetCharge. And one app for all energy purchases

With fleetCharge, autoSense Swisscom offers a holistic solution that integrates charging processes at company locations, in public areas and at home. Employees and external users can use the same platform to manage their charging processes, whether publicly, at company headquarters or at home.

At Swisscom locations, all charging stations were integrated into the fleetCharge backend. Three tariffs are active for billing energy purchases:

  • Tariff A: Swisscom employees charge their company vehicles, which are billed internally.
  • Tariff B: Employees charge their private vehicles, and the costs are billed via credit card at special rates.
  • Tariff C: External users charge their vehicles and pay the official rate via their credit card.

Home charging: flexible and easy

A unique selling point of fleetCharge is the seamless integration of Home Charging.

Regardless of the infrastructure used, employees can also simply have their electricity purchased at home billed. An example shows the calculation for an employee in one month:

  • Distance traveled: 1,000 km (determined by telematics)
  • Average consumption per 100 km: 20 kWh
  • Total energy consumption: 200 kWh
  • Of which publicly charged: 50 kWh
  • Charged at company location: 30 kWh
  • Charged at home: 120 kWh

The energy charged at home is calculated on the basis of the local electricity tariff. With an example rate of CHF 0.35 per kWh, this results in a remuneration of CHF 42, which can be transmitted directly to the customer's compensation system via interfaces.

The result: efficient processes and transparent billing

Michael Klasa, Head of Mobility at Swisscom

“By using fleetCharge, Swisscom can efficiently manage the charging infrastructure, make billing transparent and automated, and significantly increase convenience for employees and external users,” says Michael Klasa, Head of Mobility at Swisscom. “Employees benefit from easy handling and clear tariff structures, while Swisscom has a uniform solution for managing and billing all energy purchases — whether at work, in public or at home. This helps us both to reduce the average costs per kWh across the entire company fleet and to minimize the time spent at the charging point.”

The electrification of the company fleet represents significant progress for Swisscom and is an important milestone in achieving ambitious climate goals. autoSense is accompanying the company on this journey and at the same time motivating other companies to make the switch to electric mobility. In this way, we can make a positive contribution to climate protection and shape a sustainable future together.
