The events of the past year and the resulting energy crisis have provoked an unprecedented response worldwide, which has led to an accelerated rethink in the use of fossil fuels. Regardless of the different motives or competing interests, this has resulted in a joint effort by a broad group of individuals and organizations from various sectors.

The focus is on two main aspects: firstly, reducing the consumption of fossil fuels in order to reduce CO2 emissions, and secondly, to continuously increase the share of renewable energy in our everyday lives. An often overlooked point is the intelligent use of energy resources, which requires improved energy reporting and efficient data management.

It is precisely this strategy that the Federal Council has chosen. The regulation dated November 23, 2022 shows that this trend is prevailing at the highest level of Swiss legislation. This is not a short-term development.

In fact, according to the new regulation, as of January 1, 2024: Publicly owned companies, banks and insurance companies that employ at least 500 people and have total assets of at least 20 million francs or a turnover of more than 40 million francs are required to publicly report on climate issues. On the one hand, public reporting includes the financial risk that a company assumes as a result of climate-relevant activities. On the other hand, it must be disclosed what effects the company's business activities have on the climate. In addition, it must be described which reduction targets the company is setting for its direct and indirect greenhouse gas emissions and how it plans to implement them.” (Source: Federal Council press release dated 23.11.2022)

The primary goal of the new regulation is to improve the reporting of large companies to ensure their accountability and promote the transition to more sustainable practices and economic decisions. Well-organized and centralized fleet management such as autoSense FleetPro can help you meet legal reporting requirements. fleetPro can also make it easier to switch from vehicles with conventional drives to more environmentally friendly means of transport such as electric vehicles and at the same time reduce emissions from existing, fossil-powered fleets by reducing the distances traveled.

Sustainability is the key word. By analyzing telematics data, autoSense offers a versatile tool to identify areas of action that can be optimized.

autoSense fleetPro, as a data-based solution, makes it possible to optimize the use of vehicle fleets, increases transparency, recognizes unnecessary trips and thus contributes to reducing CO2 emissions and fuel consumption. In particular, it provides a solid basis for well-founded decisions to optimize fleet size and enables better estimation and planning of vehicle replacement and the transition to electric vehicles.

In addition, autoSense offers a wide range of tools and modules that help companies prepare for future technological advancements, regulatory guidelines and legal requirements and make fleet management more effective and flexible.
