driveScore in detail

autoSense's driveScore checks exactly how you behave on the road. This feature gives you information about:

  • Your acceleration behavior
  • How you brake
  • How you behave when cornering
  • Your general driving style
  • An anonymized comparison with other autoSense users
  • An overview of your driving behavior over a longer period of time

In your personal dashboard in the app, you can see your overall score, which is created based on all your previous trips and your current driving behavior. A matching smiley immediately shows how good or bad your driving skills are doing.

If the smiley in your app doesn't look so happy, it could be because you're accelerating too fast, braking too hard, or cornering too fast.

This is how driveScore works

driveScore uses sensor data from the autoSense adapter installed in your car to precisely analyze every trip you make. This includes data such as mileage, acceleration, and speed.

Based on this data, each of your trips is assigned a score of between 0 and 100. Acceleration, braking and cornering behavior are particularly important for this evaluation.

How do the values come about?

Depending on how you drive in certain situations — be it acceleration, braking or cornering — certain events are recorded. For example, when you accelerate too fast, brake abruptly, or take a turn too quickly. Each of these maneuvers that is above a specified threshold creates such an event.

Depending on the number of events recorded by the autoSense adapter during a trip, your driveScore is adjusted up or down. For example, if you don't have an event over 100 km, you'll get the perfect score of 100. But if you have, say, five events — such as abrupt braking or cornering too fast — then your driveScore drops to 50. To improve your score, you'll need to adjust your driving style and try to drive more smoothly and safely.

In general, you're likely to get a better score if you travel long distances, especially on motorways. There are fewer distractions and you can drive more evenly. However, shorter routes in the city with lots of stops and starts may lower your score.

Unhappy with your driveScore?

Follow these tips:

  • Speed up slowly and steadily.
  • Avoid abrupt braking.
  • Keep enough distance from the vehicle in front.
  • Drive curves smoothly and safely.

We want you to drive safer and have fun doing so. That's why we've put together numerous tips and advice to help you optimize your driveScore. Regardless of whether you're just starting out with driving or already have a lot of experience, you'll find the right tip for every scenario in the app.
