When we founded autoSense, it was our vision to bring innovative products to our customers on the Swiss market with the help of mobility data and to create access to a strong ecosystem. And in everything, we are aware that we have a great responsibility when it comes to data security and the use of this data, and that is why we find it important to describe and show how autoSense works with data.

What is personal data?

The definition itself is a very vague umbrella term that can be found everywhere - but what does it actually mean? In principle, 'personal data' is data relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. Storage, use and transfer must be handled with particular care. At autoSense, we attach great importance to ensuring that our users are always aware of what data is being shared and when in the app. If you go to Settings, you will find all detailed information under FAQ/ Help under point 8.

When it comes to using our users' data, we comply with Swiss data protection law and take into account the purpose and appropriateness of use. Information is only passed on to our partners with the express consent of the user in order to be able to offer the activated partner service to customers in a useful and personalized way or to make the use of the app user-friendly. In addition, there is the use and further processing of data, which is stored in the tax return for legally recognized documents such as the expense report.

Where does the data come from?

By plugging the adapter into the OBD port, we have hardware that transmits the car's automotive and mobility data securely to our autoSense cloud. From there, the data is transferred to the app, or shared with the respective partner after the user's consent. This could be the mileage for the insurance statement or the current condition of the car at the trusted car garage.

At autoSense, we only read out the data for our partners; there is no option at any time to manipulate or change the data. You go directly to our contract partner, who provides his services within his contract with the customer. The details of which data is transferred for which partner can be found in the partner service in the app.

What data is shared?

When autoSense is activated, the first steps are to determine which partner services are activated and the associated data, which is necessary to make the service fully usable, must be activated and approved. That is why we work strictly according to the principle of “as much as necessary, as little as possible”. For example, our partner, Simpego car insurance, only sees the kilometers driven by the customer when providing FlexDrive Pay Per KM insurance.

Only this data is transmitted to the partner. If a customer should change their mind, a partner service can be removed at any time.

In addition, autoSense wants to be close to its customers. Personal contact and regular contact are important to us. If our customers agree, we use profile information to get in touch. But that too can be adjusted as required.

We stand for responsible handling of data within our product and will ensure that the security of our customer data is a top priority when it comes to all innovations in the future. Because trust in us is the most important thing.
